Here are Inside Bainbridge recommendations for the weekend of October 22-24:

1. The Pumpkin Walk

When: Friday, October 21, and Saturday, October 22, 6-8 p.m.
Where: Bainbridge Gardens
Why:

  • Bainbridge Gardens Pumpkin Walk logoEverybody loves the Pumpkin Walk.
  • It’s short, it’s easy.
  • It ‘s got food, music, and the Great Pumpkin.
  • Walking on a wooded trail in the dark, your way lit only by the orange glow of fantastically carved pumpkins, is awesome.

When: Friday, October 21, 9 p.m.-1 a.m.
Where: The 122, 241 Winslow Way
Why: These six guys from Silverdale who started out together playing in the Navy Band Northwest, include among their influences The Average White Band and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band , and cite as their interests magnets, dinosaurs, and long walks on the beach.

3. The Unspooky Show

When: Saturday, October 22, 11:30 and 1 p.m.
Where: Art Museum Auditorium, Ravine Lane
Why:

  • Got a kid who spooks easily? Go to this performance by acclaimed Seattle-based storyteller Susy Irwin accompanied by local musician Dave Webb.
  • There are puppets.
  • Proceeds support KiDiMu.

4. “Knowledge is Power” Car Care Clinic

When: Saturday, October 22, 12-2 p.m.
Where: Hockett & Olsen, 1278 Ferncliff Avenue NE
Why: Learn the basics, like changing a flat tire, jump starting a dead battery, checking fluids.

5. Free Solar Workshop

When: Saturday, October 22, 1-2:30 p.m.
Where: OfficeXpats, 2nd Floor, Pavilion
Why:

  • If you haven’t heard yet, solar is viable in the Northwest. You need to get yourself some.
  • Get your questions answered and find out about bulk purchasing discounts.

6. Fall at the Mall with Greg Atkinson

When: Saturday, October 22, 4-5 p.m
Where: Kitsap Mall next to interior entrance to Barnes & Noble
Why: Our own Greg Atkinson presents his new book, Northwest Essentials, and talks about Pacific cuisine.

Julie Duke Band7. Julie Duke Band

When: Saturday, October 22, 7 p.m.
Where: Island Music Center, 10598 NE Valley Rd.
Why:

  • You can dance.
  • The $10 concert admission benefits the Island Music Center
  • Julie Duke likes Koko Taylor and Etta James. She’s got good taste.

8. Classical Music Of India with Steve Oda and Ty Burhoe

When: Saturday, October 22, 8-10 p.m.
Where: Grace Church, 8595 East Day Road
Why:

  • Last July their show was sold out.
  • Oda plays the Sarode and Burhoe plays the Tabla, and they both play them very, very well.

Howl-o-ween9. Howl-o-ween (7th Annual)

When: Saturday, October 23, 1-5 p.m.
Where: IslandWood, 4450 Blakely Ave.
Why:

  • It’s free, and it’s for the whole family.
  • Massive pumpkin carvings created by IslandWood’s chef.
  • Ghost stories for the kids.
  • Refreshments.

10. Leaf Printing Class for Kids & Adults

When: Sunday, October 23, 1-3 p.m.
Where: Bloedel Reserve, 7571 NE Dolphin Dr.
Why:

  • Tom Strid and Nancy McGowan will show you a simple print-making technique. You can then use unusual leaves collected at Bloedel to print onto paper or fabric.
  • The $15 class fee includes inks, rollers, paper, and an assortment of leaves. Kids attend free.
  • You can print on fabric, a tee-shirt, or any other material you bring.
  •
